He was born in 1973 in Ljubljana and is strained between Škofja Loka and Strunjan. He has been engaged in music since he was five and has finished musical and ballet school in Ljubljana. He is a winner of the three first prizes at Yugoslav contests in classical guitar. He has played in many jazz bands and among others also with Slovenian radio and televisions "Big band". He received the scholarship from "Berklee college of music" from Boston, where he studied production, singing and the guitar. Jan continued his study on musical conservatory in Celovec.
